The story of Mothers Day is the story of firm determination of a daughter, Anna Marie Jarvis (May 1, 1864, Webster, West Virginia – November 24, 1948, West Chester, Pennsylvania) with a great love for her mother. She  was a social activist and on May 10, 1908, three years after her mother's death, Jarvis held a memorial ceremony to honor her mother and all mothers of the world. Though never a mother herself, Founder of Mother's Day, Anna Jarvis is today recognised as the 'Mother of Mothers Day'.

La storia della Festa della Mamma è la storia di una figlia, Anna Marie Jarvis (1 maggio 1864, Webster, West Virginia - 24 Novembre 1948, West Chester, Pennsylvania) e del suo amore per la propria mamma. Anna fu un attivista sociale. Il 10 maggio 1908, tre anni dopo la morte di sua madre, Jarvis tenne una cerimonia commemorativa per onorare propria madre, a cui aveva dedicato la vita e tutte le madri del mondo. Anche se a sua volta non fu mai madre, Anna è riconosciuta come la fondatrice della Festa della Mamma.
