Royal Wedding Bea & Edo

Il bouquet della sposa. Tradizionalmente viene

I carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Summer

It is summer! it is summer! how beautiful it looks!
There is sunshine on the old gray hills, and sunshine on the brooks
A singing-bird on every bough, soft perfumes on the air,
A happy smile on each young lip, and gladness everywhere.

It's my Birthday today!

A beautiful poem and a wonderful illustration for my birthday gift! Enjoy it with me :)

A Birthday, illustration by Emma Florence Harrison
to the Poems of Christina Rossetti
A Birthday
by Christina Georgina Rossetti

My heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water'd shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these
Because my love is come to me.

Raise me a dais of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;
Because the birthday of my life
Is come, my love is come to me.

in foglie e argentei fiordalisi.

Florence Harrison (1877–1955) was an Art Nouveau and Pre-Raphaelite illustrator of poetry and children's books. Many of her books were published by Blackie and Sons. She illustrated books by notable Pre-Raphaelite circle poets Christina Rossetti, William Morris and Sir Alfred Tennyson.
She has been previously known by name Emma Florence Harrison, although there is some dispute that this was correct. The works previously attributed to Emma may actually be by Florence Susan Harrison who was Australian.

Christina Rossetti was born in London, to Gabriele Rossetti, a poet and a political exile from Vasto, Abruzzo, and Frances Polidori, the sister of Lord Byron's friend and physician, John William Polidori.
She had two brothers and a sister: Dante Gabriel became an influential artist and poet, and William Michael and Maria both became writers. Christina, the youngest, was a lively child. She dictated her first story to her mother before she had learned to write.

Poems of Autumn

"You catch a poem just as it comes, he once said.
What he caught were poems about New England and about life."
(from Poetry for Young People)

The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

A beautiful poem by Rober Frost from  Poetry for young people, a collation of poems that introduce Robert Frost to pupils. The selections are arranged by the seasons, and Sorensen's handsome watercolor illustrations capture the feel of the New England landscape.
Frost writes about choices that everyone must take in life. He is in 'a yellow' wood and stands a long time looking a fork in the road, trying to decide which road to take continue his trip. He choose the 'grassy' but the roads seem to be very similar. Both have new leaves but he preferred the one that not many people have travelled down and he knows that he will probably never come back.

e aveva forse l’aspetto migliore

Anime in Pena
di Giuseppe Brunasso

Sei stata il bacio delicato
che l'ultimo raggio di sole
dona al primo raggio di luna,
quell'attimo di pura follia
che commiata la luce
e prelude alla notte,
il tenero abbraccio
che spegne l'ardore
ed accende il desiderio.
… L’incontro fatale

come tuo re.

These poem were written by a very good friend of mine. I asked him for permission to share with you his verses. I really love them!

Lost Souls
by Giuseppe Brunasso

You have been the gentle kiss
That the last ray of sunshine
Gives to the first moonlight,
That moment of pure madness
Which moves the light
And preludes to the night,
The warm embrace
Which fades passion
And turns on desire.
... The fatal encounter
Of two lost souls.

Together we will walk through the storm
by Giuseppe Brunasso

When the sky will shed nervous tears
Among the leaves of our brighter days,
I will be there to spread cloaks on your path,
To be your strength and your refuge.
Together we will walk through the storm.
You will feed me with deep and sweet gazes
That will touch my  heart
Like kisses I have not given you yet.
I will not miss your lips
And the smiles that they will create:
They will crown me every day,
as your king.

All day I've toiled but not with pain!

At the end of the day  this sweet poem often comes to my mind  ...

All day I've toiled but not with pain
Emily Brontë
from The Brontë sisters, Selected poem

All day I've toiled but not with pain
In learning's golden mine
And now at eventide again
The moonbeams softly shine.

Nella dorata miniera del sapere;

There is no snow upon the ground
No frost on wind or wave
The south wind blew with gentlest sound
And broke their icy grave.

Non c'è neve sulla terra,
Non c'è gelo nel vento o nell'onda;

Tis sweet to wander here at night
To watch the winter die
With heart as summer sunshine light
And warm as summer's sky.

E' dolce vagare qui nella notte,
Vegliare l'inverno che muore
Col cuore gaio come un sole splendente
E caldo come un cielo d'estate.

O may I never lose the peace
That lulls me gently now
Though time may change my youthful face
And years may shade my brow.

True to myself and true to all
May I be healthful still
And turn away from passion's call
And curb my own wild will.

Fedele a me stessa, fedele a tutto,
Possa io essere ancora integra,
Sottrarmi ai richiami della passione
E frenare il mio desiderio selvaggio.

Sonnet For the 14th of February

A gorgeous painting offers me the chance to write about Thomas Hood an English poet who I appreciate very much!.  The verses write below the characters with masks are from a Sonnet For the 14th of February...

No popular respect will I omit
To do thee honor on this happy day,
When every loyal lover tasks his wit
His simple truth in studious rhymes to pay,
And to his mistress dear his hopes convey.
Rather thou knowest I would still outrun
All calendars with Love's,—whose date alway
Thy bright eyes govern better than the Sun,
For with thy favor was my life begun;
And still I reckon on from smiles to smiles,
And not by summers, for I thrive on none
But those thy cheerful countenance complies:
Oh! if it be to choose and call thee mine,
Love, thou art every day my Valentine.
Thomas Hood

Thomas Hood (23 May 1799 – 3 May 1845) was an English poet, author and humourist.
His father was a bookseller. After his death in 1811, Hood worked in a countinghouse until an illness forced him to move to Dundee, Scotland, to recover with relatives where he began his literary career working in local magazine. In 1818 he returned to London to work as an engraver.
In 1824 Hood married Jane Reynolds and collaborated on "Odes and Addresses" his first volume written with his brother-in-law, J.H. Reynolds a friend of John Keats.
Hood wrote light verse and puns but he also depicted the working conditions of the poor.
His widely known work was "The Song of the Shirt", a verse lament for a London seamstress compelled to sell shirts she had made, the proceeds of which lawfully belonged to her employer, in order to feed her malnourished and ailing child.
Thomas Hood
Hood wrote comic verses considered among the best of this genre: witty and full of extraordinary ingenuity of concepts and a unique expertise in pyrotechnics metrics and language.
In the 1830s he traveled to continental Europe and lived with his family in Belgium. Suffering from ill health and troubled finances, he received a grant from the Royal Literary Fund in 1841. His whole life was a courageous fight against poverty and ill health. He died at the age of 45.

Thomas Hood's wife, Jane
National Portrait Gallery
Mori giovanissimo all'età di 45.

In Jane Campion's film 'The Piano', at the beginning and at the end of the story Ada, the main character, 'tells' of her silence with Thomas Hood verses ... How beautiful!:)

Bellissimi!!:)

Silence

There is a silence where hath been no sound,
There is a silence where no sound may be,
In the cold grave—under the deep deep sea

A Room with a View

It was pleasant, too, to fling wide the windows,
pinching the fingers in unfamiliar fastenings,
to lean out into sunshine with beautiful hills
and trees and marble churches opposite, and,
close below, Arno, gurgling against the
embankment of the road.
E.M. Forster, A Room with a View

Shakespeare's Birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire
Look through the windows is one of the things that fascinates me since my childhood. During my last journey to England I photographed some of them to stop a time for a while and to enjoy the view beyond the glass.
In this post I publish some of my photos with a poem of the great Fernando Pessoa! I am very intrigued by his works. His heteronyms are the result of a very brilliant mind!. His poetry 'It’s not enough to open the window' has had different interpretations. We are incapable of seeing reality only with our eyes or perhaps he speaks of the possibility of seeing far beyond reality thanks to our dreams?

It is also necessary to have no philosophy.
With philosophy there are no trees, just ideas.

Fernando Pessoa is recognized as the greatest poet of the Portuguese language. He was born on 13th of June 1888 in Lisbon, Portugal. He is distinguished as the most momentous literary figure of the 20th century who played a major role in the development of modernism in his country. The English language played a major role in his life. He translated, working, writing, studying and even think in English.
Pessoa was a writer with an enigmatic personality. He gave birth to more than 70 eternonimi ii with which he decomposed in several other personalities, all with different  and separate life. The heteronyms possess distinct biographies, temperaments, philosophies, appearances and writing styles.
