Molly Brett (1902–1990) was an English illustrator and children's author, best known for her anthropomorphic artwork. She grew up in Surrey, Great Britain, surrounded by animals and nature. She began her career by illustrating "weekly papers" for children.

Angus Clifford Racey Helps (1913–1970) was an English children's author and illustrator. His books were written in a simple style and feature woodland creatures and birds, with illustrations by the author. He is known also for illustrating postcards, greeting cards, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and wrapping paper. Helps was born in Bristol in 1913 and he spent his childhood in the hamlet of Chelvey, Somerset.

Margaret Winifred Tarrant (1888 – 29 July 1959) was an English illustrator specializing in depictions of fairy-like children and religious subjects. She began her career at the age of 20, and painted and published into the early 1950s. Tarrant was born in Battersea, south London, the daughter of landscape painter Percy Tarrant and Sarah Wyatt Tarrant. She launched her career at age 20 with an edition of Charles Kingsley's The Water Babies.

Gennaio

Margaret Tarrant Illustration

E dagli alberi aveva tolto i rami superflui

Then came old January, wrapped well
In many Weeds to keep the cold away:
Yet did he quake and quiver like to quell,
And blow his Nails to warm them if he may;
For, they were numb'd with holding all the day
An Hatchet keen, with which he felled Wood,
And from the Trees did lop the needless Spray

(Edmund Spencer, The Faerie Queene. Book VII)
