Robert Louis Stevenson
(Edimburgh, 13 November 1850 – Samoa, 3 December 1894)
Robert Louis Balfour Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, poet, essayist, and travel writer. His most famous works are Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Treasure Island (1833) is considered a true masterpiece that has inspired many writers of travel and adventure literature. The novel takes place in 1700, in England and on an unspecified island in the South Seas. Among the people there are good, wicked, nobles and pirates all described in a compelling manner. It tells the story of young Jim Hawkins and his adventures in the search
for the buried treasure of the evil Captain Flint.
In one of his letters he wrote: "The whole tale of my life is better to me than any poem".

Robert Louis Balfour Stevenson è stato uno scrittore scozzese. Autore di una vastissima produzione letteraria, tra i suoi capolavori troviamo L'isola del Tesoro, Il ragazzo rapito, Lo strano caso del dr. Jekyll e mr. Hyde.
L'isola del tesoro (1833) è considerato un vero capolavoro che ha ispirato molti scrittori della letteratura di viaggi ed avventura. Il romanzo si svolge nel 1700, in Inghilterra ed su un'imprecisata isola nei Mari del Sud. Tra i personaggi ci sono buoni, malvagi, nobili e pirati tutti descritti in maniera avvincente. Jim il protagonista è un giovane ragazzini.
In una sua lettera egli scrisse: "Tutta la mia vita è per me più bella di qualsiasi poema".
