Sense and Sensibility Locations (2008 TV miniseries)

I just finished watching the BBC version of Sense and Sensibility (2008). The story, the characters, the actors, and the places are, in my opinion, absolutely fantastic!. How beautiful houses, silent witnesses of stories. I love imagine their owners. I tried to know something more about the film locations ...  maybe ...one day I could go...:)

Ho appena finito di vedere su LaEffe TV la versione BBC di Sense and Sensibility del 2008.  La storia, i personaggi, gli attori, e i luoghi sono a mio parere assolutamente fantastici. Il fascino delle dimore è unico. Esse sono testimoni  silenziose di chissà quali storie. Adoro fantasticare e immaginare i loro proprietari!  Ho cercato di conoscere qualcosa sui luoghi in cui è stata girata la serie tv... così che se un giorno potessi andarci...:)

Blackpool Mill, the home of the Dashwood girls, is a fifteenth-century cottage in north Devon (turned into Barton Cottage). The cottage is situated in a sheltered valley, a stone’s throw away from a remote Atlantic cove with wonderful views to Lundy Island. It was also used for several film location.
Hartland village is only 2 miles. On its web site I've found this description: "At night the only lights to be seen are the lighthouses on the island, at Hartland Point and further down into Cornwall.

Blackpool Mill, (Barton Cottage in tv)il cottage in cui si trasferiscono le sorelle Dashwood, è un casolare del XV secolo situato nel nord Devon. Dal cottage si può godere una fantastica vista sulla baia dell'Atlantico. E'stato utilizzato per diverse location cinematografiche.
Il villaggio di Hartland è a soli 2 km e "di notte le uniche luci da vedere sono i fari sull'isola, a Hartland Point e più in basso in Cornovaglia..." (tratto dalla descrizione del cottage sul sito web).

Il panorama della baia sull'Atlantico è veramente da togliere il fiato!

Wrotham Park is a Palladian Mansion set in the heart of a 2,500 acre estate located in Hertfordshire.  It was designed by Isaac Ware in 1754 and built by Admiral John Byng, the fourth son of Admiral Sir George Byng. 

Wrotham Park served as the exterior to Norland, the Dashwood family's home and was use for a lot of period drama and film scene (Gosford Park, Daniel Deronda, Jeeves and Wooster).

Ham House was built in 1610 by Sir Thomas Vavasour, Knight Marshal to James I. It is situated beside the River Thames in Ham, south of Richmond in London, United Kingdom. It is claimed by the National Trust to be "unique in Europe as the most complete survival of 17th century fashion and power".

Ham in the early 17th century was bestowed by James I to his son, Henry Frederick, Prince of Wales.

Loseley Park

Loseley Park is an Elizabethan country house in Surrey, built in the mid-16th century by Sir William Morewas. It was chosen for the exterior shots of Sir John Middleton's home, Barton Park. The library doubled for Colonel Brandon's own, while the entrance was used for scenes featuring a gathering of guests for a day out. The Oak Room was also used for the scenes involving Marianne, after she falls sick.
All the  furniture at Loseley was originally and remain well preserved in the domestic setting.

Dorney Court near Windsor is an excellent example of Tudor architecture .  It has been the Palmer family home for more than  450 years passing from father to son through thirteen generations. It is a Grade 1 listed building, further designated as being of outstanding architectural and historical interest. Dorney Court has always been the manor house of Dorney village which was first recorded in the Domesday Book (the a manuscript that records the great survey of much of England and parts of Wales completed in 1086). The house contains a large collection of family portraits, many of which can be seen in Sense and Sensibility.

Clovelly is a small village in the Torridge district of Devon, England. It is a major tourist attraction, exceptional in its history and beauty, its extremely steep car-free cobbled main street, donkeys and its location looking out over the Bristol Channel. Thick woods shelter it and render the climate so mild that even tender plants flourish. kesh1967 - Clovelly Pier, Devon

Clovelly è un villaggio di pescatori inglese, affacciato sul Canale di Bristol (Oceano Atlantico) e situato nella costa settentrionale del Devon (Inghilterra sud-occidentale), al confine con la Cornovaglia. Dal punto di vista amministrativo, si tratta di una parrocchia civile del distretto di Torridge.

Il villaggio, oggi una popolare meta turistica, fu reso celebre dal romanzo Westward Ho! di Charles Kingsley (1819-1875). 

La località è tradizionalmente legata agli asini, i cosiddetti "asini di Clovelly", da secoli presenza costante nelle strade del villaggio e ora soprattutto attrazione turistica. (from wikipedia.it)
